Abstract
Village markets managed by Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) represent a strategic instrument for strengthening local economic development and improving community welfare. This study aims to analyze the governance of the village market managed by BUMDes Al Falah in Embacang Gedang and identify the inhibiting factors in its implementation. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The unit of analysis consists of 10 informants selected through purposive and incidental sampling.
The findings reveal that market governance has not been optimally implemented. This is reflected in four main aspects: supervision, orderliness, arrangement, and maintenance, which remain ineffective. Furthermore, several inhibiting factors were identified, including the absence of technical guidance, inadequate community awareness, and lack of budget allocation. These findings indicate that institutional strengthening and governance improvement are essential to optimize the role of BUMDes in managing village markets.
